I will moderate soon after I return home this afternoon. Unfortunately I wasn't able to progress further than the Level 1 splash screen because the game froze. I have to leave for Archery in less than an hour (The Bowmen of Lyme), and won't be back until early to mid afternoon (depending on the weather), so won't be posting my usual reviews, however, I have posted some of my observations and brief notes so far. The developers web site was lacking any suitable information or feedback from customers and no demo was available so wasn't able to prepare a draft of my usual review before the game went live. I'm sure younger children will love this game. I do hope some community members will comment on how the game performs.
Also I was not able to take screen captures of any in game activity using three different screen capture applications (Ashampoo Snap 7, The default snipping tool that comes with Win 7 onwards and Capture Whiz Pro v4) apart from when the game was installing. I rebooted the game several times, but each time the game froze when the Level 1 screen appeared. Once the tutorial was complete I progressed to the level one screen, where the game froze. I found it very uncomfortable turning in game, possibly because i'm used to either a mouse or joystick (and sometimes other types of controllers) to move around a digital environment. Turning right or left using the left and right arrow keys has the potential to give you monitor/motion sickess due to the unnatural movement. JumpĪpart from the game taking over 5 minutes to download, I found the movement keys to be a little sluggish. Action key (pick up items, climb, throw) Shift.
You’ll find videoes of Letters Kingdom gameplay HERE and HERE. The unpacked installation files are almost three quarters of a gigabyte. Aim of the game is to find letters in a 3D world environment. Graphics engine looks at least 10 years old 6). A short tutorial is available via the help button 5). A shortcut is installed to the desktop 4). You can't minimise the installation screen. If you want to use the computer while the game is installing, you will have to Alt Tab to gain access to the task bar. Installation screen takes up the whole monitor.
Would have been a useful tool 12 years ago, when my daughter was at infant school learning her letter (my son was already able to read by the age of 3 before he started school thanks to his grandma). Thank you to the developer 'Letters Kingdom' for giving the game giveawayoftheday community an opportunity to try this game out. I'm sure young children will love searching for letters. Looks like it could be a good game if you have a young family and enjoy using a computer as a teaching aid. On first glance (watching the limited number of videos I could find) Letters Kingdom seems like a good teaching aid for children learning their letters, but because I couldn't actually play the game, I can't make any other observations. Hopefully the community can help me out on feedback for this game.
